So remember way back in July...We went up to Curt & Sally's for the week to celebrate the 4th of July and see their house that they have only been in for almost 2 years. :S
We drove up on the 4th, the girls did really good and we had lost to entertain them with.
That night we did fireworks. In Lovell they don't do a city firework show, you just go outside and watch all the neighbors put on a show.
So funny story...Curt, Devin, and my dad were in charge of doing the fireworks and they had put off 3 motors in a row (the ones that shoot up in the sky) well they figured that they would do the last one so the put it in and say "geez that's really hot" well they think the tubing that shoots it up in the air got too hot so it didn't ignite right...so what does it do it blows up in the yard instead. All the kids are screaming and red sparkly flames are flying all over...than just when we thought it was over it had the after sparkles as well so they are going off everywhere as well.
Abbie tells a very funny version on the story saying that the firework blew up the yard and kids were running and the adults were grabbing kids and covering them up and Luke's hair got burned too. -Which is pretty much how it went. Well lets just say after that everyone was pretty much done with fireworks.
We decided it would be fun to watch the neighbors fireworks from the roof so a few of us climbed up and watched.
The next day we went down to the local park, had a picnic, and went swimming in their little splash pad/pool.
Than on Friday night we went down to Cody, Wyoming for the Cody Rodeo.
On the way we stopped at this dam the miners back in the day build.
The kids had a blast at the Rodeo. Abbie even joined in the "cattle round up" where all the kids try to pull the ribbon off the calf's tail. Well after it was over I was waiting at the fence she went in at and she went out the opposite side of the arena. Devin could see her the whole time but I was having a panic attack. I ran over to the other side and couldn't find her. The rodeo clown had found her and was walking her back over the opposite way I had come. So after a whole lap around the arena I was reunited...can I just say it was the most nervous mess.
Saturday we went down to Devils Canyon
The city was doing a family day and people were offering free boat rides so we took up the opportunity.
If you have a good eye we were able to see wild sheep/rams in the canyon.
The captain of the boat said "here we go...don't let your heads fly off" and Ashlyn held onto her head a lot of the ride. lol
Than they had a swimming area and they kids swam with grandpa and Devin for quite a while.
We went up to the look out and was able to see wild horses which was really neat.
Love those blue Wyoming skies!
That night the adults went out to see "Battleship" and played games. Sunday we drove home.
It was a fun filled trip and we sure wish we lived closer to those cute kids and their parents.
I can't wait for the next trip!
